Documentation
Documentation
Documentation is a way to highlight the student’s learning and their process throughout the journey
Students feel a sense of ownership and pride when they see their work or pictures displayed. It allows them to reflect on things they have done in the classroom and can ignite new questions about their investigations.
For teachers the documentation serves as a form of assessment and tracking of the student’s development. They are able to take note of children’s interests and their varying abilities. They can use this as a tool to enhance the experience on a unique level for each child.
For visitors, this documentation serves as a window into the children’s experiences. One can follow their journey from what they knew, through their research, and then to what they learned.
At Bella Mente Early Learning, we utilize many forms of documentation
Daily
3-5 Facebook posts that highlight the learning that is taking place in the classroom and on the playground. Please do your best to capture all the students present that day. These posts can be photos, quotes, videos of the day ETC. Try to focus more on group photos rather than individual highlights.
Weekly
Your classroom provides a space to display documentation. The documentation in the room allows the students to revisit their learning, and showcase what they have been doing. It allows visitors a glimpse into what is going on in the room as well. We would like you to be continuously adding to this environment. This can look like children’s artwork accompanied with quotes, or pictures, group projects with descriptions from children’s and teacher’s perspectives; questions and responses during meetings etc. If you need something printed, either notes or picture, please email it to Lauren and we can get it printed, ASAP
Monthly
Portfolios are used as a way to track student’s progress and highlight special moments that happen for each child individually. There is a checklist for each classroom that will be kept in a consistent space. Work with your co-teacher to ensure you are not doubling up on monthly posts, and check off the student once you got theirs done. If you needed something printed, either notes or picture please email it to Lauren and we can get it printed, ASAP
